Rant, my future mother in law won’t give us space!
Hey y’all, I plan on getting married this winter and I am very excited about. Like most couples planning a wedding it’s an exciting yet stressful time. TBH I am looking forward to the wedding night/honeymoon trip more than the actual wedding. (Hopefully other couples can sympathize)
Our plan is to have weekend in California with our guests but the couple days after the reception all the guests will check out and leave and my and my future husband will drive to next town over with our dogs to have a couple nights to ourselves.
My fiancé’s mom is really sweet but is very clingy. She suggested she get a hotel in the same town as us as she doesn’t want to fly back home right away. She then asked for our hotel info. My husband said that he doesn’t want her to do that as it’s not respectful to our space. Then she offers to ‘watch our dogs’ for us so we can have time for ourselves but she would need to be in our same hotel/town. She also suggested we do dinner one of the nights. Husband said there is no need to watch our dogs as we want them with us.
I feel she doesn’t want to let go or give us space. Husband keeps telling her no but she seems to keeping trying to come up with ideas to be apart of our trip. At this point I am getting really annoyed and worried she is going to ignore our wishes. LIKE Seriously lady, you can’t be apart of our honeymoon, LET HIM GO!
We haven’t booked our hotel yet as I am thinking of changing towns and not telling her. But part of me feels like there needs to a stronger firmer conversation about her respecting our relationship and her understanding she can’t invite herself to our couple things.
My husband tells her no, but I think he is too ‘nice’.
Thoughts on how to escape her scheme
