Indian women married to someone with bipolar disorder — what has your experience actually been like?

General (Women Only)

I’m 28M from India and was recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder along with ADHD by my psychiatrist.

One of my biggest concerns after the diagnosis is marriage.

I want to eventually have a wife, a healthy relationship and children. But I also don't want to enter someone's life without understanding what living with this condition could mean for my future partner.

So I'd especially like to hear from Indian women who are married to, dating, or have previously been in a serious relationship with someone diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

If your partner consistently takes treatment and takes responsibility for their condition, what is everyday life actually like?

Can the relationship be stable and healthy long-term?

What are the genuinely difficult parts that someone with bipolar should understand before asking another person to build a life with them?

What behaviours from your partner make you feel safe and secure?

How important are medication adherence, sleep, therapy, communication and recognizing early warning signs?

If you knew about the diagnosis before marriage, what information did you need before making your decision?

If you have children, how did you approach concerns about heredity/genetics?

And looking back honestly, would you still choose the relationship?

I'm not looking for reassurance or asking Reddit whether I should take medication — I'm under psychiatric care and intend to follow professional treatment.

I'm trying to understand the partner's side before I ever ask someone else to make a serious commitment to me.

I'd appreciate both successful stories and difficult experiences. I would rather understand the reality than only hear comforting answers.
