Solo 7 Night Caribbean cruise with a 4.5yo — dads, give me your wisdom

Advice Request

Taking my 4.5yo daughter on a Caribbean cruise by myself as Mom will be in Europe for most of the time anyways and it seemed, at least in passing, like a great idea. This will be the longest stretch we've ever spent just the two of us, plus a 3-hour flight each way. (also arriving a few hours before the boat leaves, so extra fun).

She's a good traveler and has flown plenty, but Mom is usually there to handle approximately 60% of the snacks, bathroom emergencies, emotional negotiations, and “DAD, LOOK AT THIS” moments.

This time, I am both parents.

For dads who have done a cruise/vacation solo with a 4–5yo: what are your best tips/tricks?

Mostly looking for advice on and anything Royal Carribean Specific:

  • Kids clubs
  • Meals/bedtime
  • Pool/beach logistics
  • Ports/getting on & off the boat
  • Excursions
  • Things you wish you'd packed
  • Things you packed that were completely useless

She's pretty easygoing, so I'm not expecting disaster. But I would like to avoid discovering a previously unknown loophole in the laws of parenting while 1,000 miles from home. We are going to be on Symphony of the Seas on the 22nd if anyone is familiar or possibly on the boat!

Hit me with your best dad wisdom - Feeling a bit nervous.
