WhatsApp suddenly logged me out despite 2FA – repeated verification codes in different languages
Hi everyone. I’m wondering if anyone has experienced something similar.
For the past few weeks, I’ve been receiving WhatsApp verification codes that I never requested. The strange thing is that the SMS messages were in different languages (French, Arabic, Ukrainian, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, etc.). I never shared any of these codes with anyone.
Today, while I was using WhatsApp normally, I was suddenly logged out and got a message saying that my number had been registered on another device.
What worries me is that I already had two-step verification (6-digit PIN) enabled and a recovery email linked to my account before this happened. I still have full control of my SIM and phone number and can receive normal calls/SMS.
I’m now trying to register my number again, but WhatsApp keeps making me wait before requesting another verification SMS, and the SMS verification is failing.
Another strange detail: while I’m logged out, friends and family have sent messages to my WhatsApp and they remain on one check mark, so apparently the messages are not being delivered to another device either.
Has anyone experienced this exact situation? Is it possible that someone caused my account to be logged out without actually getting past my 2FA PIN? How long did it take you to regain access?
