August 19th - Defend animals and uphold Governor Ayotte’s vetoes of HB1766, SB475 and SB535

Politics

Hey NHeries,

Despite the Governor already vetoing these three bills that would have weakened protections for animals and made it harder to respond to abuse and neglect, the New Hampshire Legislature is holding veto sessions where lawmakers in attendance can vote to override the Governor’s vetoes.

On August 19, the NH House and Senate will attempt to overturn Governor Ayotte’s vetoes of HB1766, SB475 and SB535 (details on each bill can be found below). That means, if two-thirds of the legislators in attendance vote to overturn the veto, the bill will become law. This would be devastating for New Hampshire’s animals.

With all the division in politics, this should be a bipartisan effort to maintain the vetos of these bills. More information is in this link by NHSPCA including how to reach out to your local representatives.
