AITA: Merging at the overpass

AITA:
Driving from the airport to Bello Road there’s a traffic light at the top of the overpass with two lanes that merge after you pass that intersection. I was driving yesterday and saw that one lane, the left lane, had a long line waiting at the red light (There is no traffic backed up on Bello.) So, I decided to stay on the right lane, the empty one. Before I reached the intersection, the light turned green. So, I kept driving. My lane ends after the light so I am to merge into the lane with all the cars I just passed at the red light. Because I didn’t have to stop at the red light, obviously, I am going faster than the cars in the other lane. I look in my side view mirror and see the car behind me is a good distance away (I’m talking like 2 buses could’ve fit between us) so I start merging because my lane is ending. I glance over again as I’m merging and see that it sped up so that they could be in front of me. At this point the lane, I am already in the lane but the road is wide because of the merge. So, I swerve over to the shoulder so it could pass.
AITA for choosing to skip the line when there’s two lanes that go the same direction? Lol. I believe egos were hurt so I am just wondering if it’s mine or the other driver’s.
