**Mondaine’s new Doppio Rose Gold is worth a look if you want something genuinely understated at £269**

Mondaine released a new Doppio in rose gold this month and it’s better than the name suggests. No diamonds, no pink PVD case, no fashion watch territory. Just a polished steel case, Milanese mesh bracelet, and a warm rose gold dial with a subtle black moiré effect that you have to look closely to appreciate.

The dial architecture is what makes it interesting. Deeply concave, protected by a double-domed sapphire crystal, with double-line hands and indices that give it a weightless quality. The visual depth you get from the curved dial and crystal together is genuinely impressive for the price point.

Movement is Swiss quartz, which makes sense here. This is a daily wear piece at £269, not a mechanical showcase. 5 ATM water resistance, the original 1951 Mondaine logo on the caseback, and the brand’s factory in Biberist runs on 80% solar power if that matters to you.

Mondaine is mostly known for the railway clock watches, but the Doppio line is where they experiment. The rose gold execution is restrained enough that it doesn’t read as gendered and wears as a genuinely versatile everyday piece.
Not for everyone but at £269 it’s a sharp bit of Swiss design that doesn’t try too hard.
