Post-Arday fallout for campus (or similar integrity scandals)

Academic Integrity

I've been wondering what the mood is like for Cambridge faculty right now and specifically the sociology faculty at Cambridge. If you haven't heard about his case you can read about it here (guardian article). If you've been on a campus where something like this happened (it you know someone who has) I'm curious about your experiences. I'm a social scientist and I would venture a guess that these problems exacerbate already existing tensions on campus. I'm especially curious about the following as this is what I would guess would happen on my campus:

  1. Does a scandal like this worsen the divide between social sciences and natural sciences on campus?

  2. Does the campus get a new line to replace disgraced and resigned faculty? And if so, are there additional institutional oversights to prevent another fraud?

  3. Do people in the department feel that they were tricked? is there finger pointing within the department?

  4. Do other black faculty (or other people of color) face additional scrutiny?

Just curious about why insights folks have (or have heard about second hand) - obviously use pseudonyms where necessary.
