Recommendations for irritable calves/tibalis?

Daily Trainer Question

M 34, 178 cm, 65 kg. Easy runs around 5’40”-6’00”, threshold below 5’. I’ve ran for years, more structured the last year with 2-3 runs a week. Mostly around 5-6 KMs. Building back up with easy runs, improving pace, endurance and distance. Introducing more variation with threshold and speed sessions.

I have struggled with my calves (particularly tibalis and shin problems, now on the inside of the leg) on and off for many years which has kept me off running for several longer periods with just minimal training. Doing strength training and physio therapy. Some months and weeks my legs are great, some periods it’s fine at least, while others it’s totally nightmare where running is difficult, or even worse walking is uncomfortable. I don’t know if I should blame some of this on my shoes (although it was a hard pair that started it all in 2020), too hard running earlier with too little base or something else. At least good shoes have helped me earlier to stay in the game, while some pairs seem to easier knock me out again.

My shoe collection has consisted of Brooks Glycerine 17, Adrenaline 24 (loved these two pairs), bought ASICS Gel Kayano 32 this spring (works fine sometimes, generates issues other times), SAUCONY Ride 18 as a neutral and slightly firmer shoe (sometimes great, most times not at all, too firm and flat) and finally Brooks Hyperion 3 (just bought, done one threshold which sat new records, love them so far). As both the Glycerines and Adrenlaines are now too old, the Kayanos a notch too stability focused and squishy for someone who doesn’t overpronate excessively, the Rides too firm and flat and the Hyperions too specialised for great periods when tempo and threshold is back on the menu, I can’t help but look for another pair that can play the middle field in my shoe rack. Neutral or slightly stable, not too soft and not too firm, some roll and bounce, suitable for zone 2-3 runs of 5-10 KMs without straining my legs too much. I’ve been looking at both a newer pair of Adrenalines (24 particularly because of the 12 mm drop), Ghost, Novablast (5), Rebel v5 and Adizero EVO SL. No idea where to go now as seemingly everything I touch of daily trainers end up as failure.
