Anyone done press ons? ($10k)

One of my fiance's friends does amazing nail art just as a hobby. She's really sweet and offered to do a set for me once we told the friend group about the wedding. I've seen lots of her sets and they're genuinely beautiful. My only concern is I've been doing acrylics/powder on my nails for years now. It's over top of my real nails that are quite long they're just thin and tend to break if I just leave them.

I haven't done press ons in a looooong time and I'm worried about how to switch from the powder to press ons. Like do I just get them removed at my nail salon and glue the press ons myself? How long do they usually last? I'm scared they'll pop off because I'm not used to them. Would it be worth doing a test set beforehand to wear and make sure it's comfortable? Idk I'm just worried about something I'm not used to. Sorry if this is a dumb post overall just wanted some opinions!
