Hey everyone, I ran into the exact same issue described in some older threads (where Samsung Health refuses to sync with the watch on non-Samsung phones, formatting doesn't help, and the watch button gives a "couldn't open Samsung health on phone" error).

I managed to find a workaround. It seems the issue is caused by the new S Health version trying to open a specific Watch package (com.samsung.android.app.watchmanager) which redirects non-Samsung users to a "Not compatible with your device" page on Google Play.

Here is how I fixed it by sideloading the correct version:

Step 1: Clean Slate

\* Uninstall all Samsung apps from your phone completely (Samsung Health, Galaxy Wearable, watch manager plugins, etc.).

 \* Restart your phone.

Step 2: Sideload Galaxy Wearable

\* Go to APKMirror and download this specific version of the Galaxy Wearable app (it uses the watchmanager2 package):

 \* Exact filename: com.samsung.android.app.watchmanager2\_2.2.70.26060861-126060861\_minAPI26(arm64-v8a,armeabi-v7a)(nodpi)\_apkmirror.com.apk

Step 3: Grant Permissions (Crucial!)

\* DO NOT open the app yet.

\* Go to your phone's Android Settings -> Apps -> Galaxy Wearable.

\* Manually grant ALL permissions (especially "Display over other apps", "Install unknown apps", etc.).

\* Note for newer Android versions: If the system prevents you from granting some permissions, tap the three dots in the top right corner of the app info screen and select "Allow restricted settings" first. The app expects these permissions on the first launch, otherwise it acts weird.

Step 4: Pair the Watch

\* Put your watch into "Transfer to new phone" mode (or factory reset it).

\* Open the sideloaded Galaxy Wearable app. It should find your watch.

\* Unlike the Play Store version, this app will automatically download and run the installation for the necessary Watch plugin itself instead of redirecting you to a broken Play Store link. Follow the on-screen setup.

Step 5: Reinstall Samsung Health

\* Once the watch is fully set up, go to the Google Play Store and download Samsung Health normally.

\* Everything should now be working! The app syncs all data, and opening watch settings from S Health works perfectly.

Known bugs/trade-offs with this version:

Since this specific APK build is likely tailored for Samsung phones, there are a couple of minor visual bugs:

\* The watch name and model might not appear on the Wearable app's home screen.

\* If you also use Galaxy Buds, the "Device Switcher" window in this app version seems broken, meaning you can't easily switch to the earbuds settings from the main menu.

Other than that, it's fully functional for the watch. Hope this helps anyone frustrated by this!
