Chase Sapphire Preferred vs. upgrading to Reserve vs. adding Venture X — trying to pick the right move
Hey all, hoping for some outside perspective before I pull the trigger on anything.
Current card: Chase Sapphire Preferred ($95/yr)
What I’m weighing: Upgrading to Sapphire Reserve ($795/yr), or adding Capital One Venture X ($395/yr) as a second card, or just staying put, or venture x and savour
Travel: Usually 2-4 trips/year (1-2 domestic, 1-2 international), but I could realistically do 5-6/year if it made sense to.
Spending: Mostly grocery and gas (mostly at Costco). Not much dining out.
Priorities: lounge access and best value for travel and everyday use. I just don’t want to pay for stuff I won’t use, or leave value on the table if there’s a better fit out there
Income: ~$115K/year.
Has anyone been in a similar spot? Curious whether Reserve’s credits are realistic to actually use at my travel frequency, or if running two cards ends up being more hassle than it’s worth. Appreciate any input. And let me know if any kore info is required from my end.
