Husband 44M is getting more and more introverted and I 40F, just need…more?
We met young and have been married for 20 years, with two kids under 10 and have been living in the same small town that husband born and grew up in. We live 5 minutes away from his mother. He has the same sets of friends since he was 5 years old, he hasn’t made more. I moved here to be with him 20 years ago, but itching to leave.
Funny thing is, we met while traveling. He courted me from my home country, flying in thousands of miles to see me for years. When I first moved here, we went camping, travelled the state, did outdoorsy things. Now he just wants to stay home. He says he is content, doesn’t want to move, doesn’t want to do things, doesn’t even want to eat dinner out or go on dates. I want trips with him, I want to do things with him and explore. He doesn’t even do outdoorsy things anymore, I just learned to snowboard 5 years ago and now I do it more than him. He talked about building a cabin at a remote place we hiked to, I put money aside to buy the land because atleast it’s outdoors and someplace to be, and he just pushed it off and now the land has been sold.
I even told him that I need to travel, do date nights and do things together and if he loved me, he’d meet my needs. He always says he’ll work on it. I always end up just traveling with my kids. I want to move to bigger cities for my kids (better school, more experiences) but he’s just so adamant about staying put. I’m the breadwinner and I can make more in bigger cities based on my experience. I’m capped out in this town.
Is this relationship done? It seems we don’t want the same things in life.
