Should I drop my Neuroscience courses and enrol in Biological Science courses before my transfer is approved?

Hi! I’m going into second year in Neuroscience at Guelph, but I recently submitted a request to switch into Biological Science. I haven’t heard back yet, and course restrictions are opening up, so I’m worried that if I keep waiting, the Bio Sci courses I need are going to fill up or the waitlists will get even longer.

I already know which Bio Sci courses I need and I’m able to enrol in them, but I can’t keep my current Neuro courses AND enrol in the Bio Sci ones because of course conflicts/credit limits. So I basically have to decide whether to drop my Neuro courses now and enrol in the Bio Sci ones before I actually get confirmation that my program switch has been approved.

At this point, I’m pretty set on switching to Bio Sci anyway. Even if I don’t get approved for the transfer this year, I was thinking I could follow the Bio Sci course sequence as much as possible and try to officially transfer again later.

Would it be a bad idea to just drop my Neuro courses and enrol in the Bio Sci ones now? Has anyone switched programs internally and done something similar before getting the official approval?

I’m just nervous about dropping all my Neuro courses before hearing back and somehow ending up in a bad situation, but I also don’t want to wait too long and lose spots in the Bio Sci courses 😭
