Do you prefer popular destinations or hidden places?

I’m always curious about this because travel advice seems to come in two completely different directions.

There are those who wish to see the famous sites that they have admired in photographs for years. Others stay away from the crowded places and look for smaller towns or villages and lesser-known places.

I personally think there are advantages to both. Famous places are famous for a reason but exploring somewhere less touristy can sometimes feel more personal and unexpected.

The challenge is to find a balance without turning a supposedly quiet destination into another tourist hotspot.

When you plan your next trip, do you usually go for somewhere famous, somewhere off the beaten track or a combination of the two?

And how do you find places that are not already all over the internet?
