Creating a simple circuit

This is my first time making a circuit by myself, and I have no prior education or knowledge on it. I know its a pretty simple design, but the circuit I'm making needs a 12 V battery, a rocker switch, and a DC 12V (4000 RPM) motor. I'm planning on building an electric fan, and am going to buy 20 gauge wire. I'm wondering if there are any components im missing and if there's something I need to do to attatch all of the parts instead of simply connecting all of their wires.
