Anyone else have a shepherd who actually DOES drop their ball?

I swear I always see on social media how shepherds will go get a ball/toy and come back but wont drop it. Is it really that common? My wife had hers mostly trained by the time we met so I’m not sure maybe its just something she reinforced a lot? Our girl will drop the ball as she gets closer so we can throw it again, unless her little brother (mixed breed) is right there to steal it, then she will drop it into my hand (he loves keep-away lol). I’m wondering if/when we get another shepherd how much we will need to work on the “drop it” command. Also just curious lol.
