Can someone please explain to me what NAD is and why I should purchase?

I keep seeing everyone buying it and my friend suggested it as well but basically explained it as turning food into energy during metabolism? Is this better than just taking pure tirz alone? Has those who have taken both lost more weight with it? I would just like to know more about it as I have only been taking tirz since Fed and I am down about 60 lbs.
