Skin discolouration from taping
**I know the logical answer here is to stop taping. Please do not berate me for my unsafe binding practices. I am very aware that i did this to myself. My earliest opportunity to talk to my psychologist at the gender clinic is in october. I do not have another doctor i feel comfortable talking to about this. Dysphoria is crazy and wearing a binder is an absolute last resort, so i’m trying to figure out if this is just superficial scarring, or something more serious that would disqualify me from top surgery until that issue is resolved. I do not care very much about these red/purple marks so long as i am able to get top surgery.**
So i’ve been taping for 5 years 24/7. The first few years I binded with tape i was probably allergic to. Always had a bad reaction, and kept taping over it. Eventually i had 2 large open wounds across my entire chest, but not my ribs where the tape ended. It looked like huge burns. Kept taping over that (i know..). Now, about 2/3 years later my chest is red/purple. I don’t think i lost any sensation. I guess my question is if anyone else has experienced this? And how i can tell if this is permanent damage or just scarring from the incident years prior. With top surgery coming up either in december or april of next year, i’ve been doing damage control i guess by using less tape, but i have seen no improvement.
