Myprotein vs Bulk: which is better?
Myprotein vs Bulk: which is better?
Myprotein has better flavour variety; Bulk is more consistent and usually less sweet. Neither is permanently cheaper, so compare the final price per gram of protein—not the advertised discount.
Flavour and texture
Myprotein’s Salted Caramel is the safest starting point. It retains enough flavour when mixed with water, while the salt controls the sucralose
sweetness. Chocolate Brownie is its better chocolate option; Chocolate Smooth can taste sweet without delivering much cocoa depth.
Bulk Strawberry is the standout from its core range. It is lighter and less dessert-like than Myprotein’s sweeter flavours. Bulk Chocolate is thinner and less rich, while Vanilla works better with fruit, coffee or oats than by itself.
Both brands mix adequately after 20–30 seconds in a shaker. Myprotein generally produces a creamier drink; Bulk is lighter and easier to drink
quickly. Cocoa-heavy flavours from either brand can leave more residue.
Winner: Myprotein for richer flavours; Bulk for less sweetness.
Nutrition and ingredients
Impact Whey and Bulk Pure Whey are primarily whey-concentrate products. Whey is already a complete protein containing all nine essential amino acids, including BCAAs, so a separate BCAA supplement is unnecessary for most buyers.
Protein content varies by flavour because cocoa and flavouring ingredients displace some whey. Compare the exact flavour label rather than relying on the headline protein figure.
Neither concentrate is ideal for someone sensitive to lactose. Switching between brands may not help because the underlying protein type is similar; an isolate is the more logical alternative.
Winner: Tie. The individual flavour matters more than the brand.
Price
Both retailers rely on frequent sales, so a larger discount badge does not guarantee a lower price. Compare:
- Final delivered price
- Pack weight
- Protein per 100g
- Cost per gram of protein
A £30 bag containing 2kg at 75% protein provides 1,500g of protein, costing 2p per gram. That is more useful than knowing whether the retailer claims it is 40% off.
Winner: Whichever has the lower live cost per gram of protein.
Verdict
Choose Myprotein for more flavours, a creamier shake and stronger dessert options. Salted Caramel is the safest first choice; Chocolate Brownie is
better than Chocolate Smooth.
Choose Bulk for a simpler range, lighter texture and less aggressive sweetness. Strawberry is its strongest everyday flavour.
Myprotein has the higher ceiling, but Bulk is more predictable. Test a smaller bag before buying 2.5kg, then let the current price per gram of
protein decide.
