Is Gordon faster than Spencer

I know this is stupid but in King of the railway Spencer and Gordon race however despite Gordon pulling 4 full coaches and Spencer is not pulling anything and both are racing at full speed and Gordon somehow was able to gain on Spencer and if Spencer hand not gone to the estate pass him so how was this possible was it Spencer slowing down to taunt Gordon or to switch onto the estate line or was Gordon legitimately winning if so how cuz Gordon can go 100 mph (if he pushes himself) and Spencer can go 126 mph (if he pushes himself) with a regular service speed of 90 mph for Spencer and 80 mph for Gordon

something of note Gordon and Spencer have been shown to go the same speed a lot when racing so this might raise some questions about how fast they can go in universe
