Should I deserve to ask for a second chance?
More than 10 meses ago, my ex (19F) and I (19M) ended our two-year relationship because we didn’t communicate our feelings properly at the time and weren’t able to fully understand each other. (I wasn’t completely sure what I really wanted, and that ended up affecting the relationship a lot.) We continued talking as friends for about three more months before she decided to block me. A little over a month ago, I found out that she hadn’t blocked me out of hatred, but rather for the emotional well-being of both of us. I reached out to her (she was okay with me contacting her), and she told me that she regretted blocking me, but at the time she felt like it was the only solution at the time. After all this time without talking, I built new routines and became even more certain about what I want for my future—basically, I built a life without her. But even with all of that, I never stopped thinking about her. In fact, my love for her grew as I realized how unique she is. But because I thought she didn’t love me anymore, I simply used that love as motivation to move forward.
That was until a month ago, when I found out that there might still be another chance. Now that I’ve learned from my mistakes, have clear goals, and can give her the security and certainty that I couldn’t give her before, and especially knowing that she didn’t block me out of hatred, I really want to ask her for another chance—to see if we can get to know each other again and possibly get back together.
But I feel like she might be better off without me, and more than anything, I’m worried that asking for another chance would be unfair or selfish of me.
What do you guys think?
