Didn't get the job barely anyone was applying for
I applied for a job that's perfect for me, and I got an interview. Thought it went well. They didn't have a lot of people applying for that position, so I thought I had a chance. I have several years of relevant experience, although not exact. I know you're not supposed to get attached to jobs but I wanted this. Well I got the rejection today-it was a personal one at least, but it still stings just the same.
All the other places I've applied to have sent me rejections, except for one, which has been very dysfunctional with trying to get beyond the initial phone interview. So I've already given up on even getting to an in-person interview with that job, let alone an actual offer.
And this is just for a hospitality job, I'm not even trying anymore for something ambitious. Maybe I need to dumb down my resume to get in the door, leave off my useless degree. I'm in a weird spot of "I tried something different and it's not working, but now I'm stuck because my experience is too high for a hospitality job but too low for a job in the dying industry I switched to." I'm panicking and my funds are dwindling every month. I have a part-time job and a few side gigs but the hours available on everything has been extremely unreliable.
