Interested in becoming an arborist

Hello, I’m currently in community college and I’m thinking about getting an associates in horticulture because I have been really interested for a while now about arboriculture. There are no forestry related degrees near me and I called ISA about getting a horticulture degree and the lady said it was fine but I have three questions. My first one is is it competitive to get into this field? Would I be able to secure an entry level job in no time I’m located in southeast VA if that plays a factor at all. My second question is I’m thinking about doing my states conservation corp to be on a chainsaw crew and I would also like to do a seasonal wild land firefighting job as well would that help with experience? My third one is should I focus on any certifications right now that would help me get a leg up when applying? All answers are appreciated thank you!
