Hypertonic floor recovery ? sex?

Hey I’m wondering anybody’s experience with hypertonic floor being postpartum and having sex I’m 3months pp and have a tight pelvic floor and had a vaginal exam and it felt kinda painful and tight when the therapist was examining my pelvic muscles. I haven’t returned to sex yet because she said since the exam hurt it would most likely be painful during sex so I’m nervous ..has anybody had this and how was it returning to intimacy as well as recovery
