For everyone out there who is **complaining** about players being given a 4\* Mewtwo, I just want to offer a different perspective.

**Mewtwo is not rare.**
**4\* Mewtwo is not rare.**
**Mewtwo was first released in the game in 2017. That is 9 years to catch a 4\*. I would guess A LOT of people who want them have them by now.**

In 2022, I caught my first 4\* Mewtwo in a long-distance raid (after they first opened up that option during the COVID years). I caught it on the same day I hit level 50 (which at the time was a pretty big achievement and the max level). I freaking LOVE that Mewtwo. To me, it's like a gift from the game for my "hard work" and time invested! I have maxed out the CP. I gave it the extra move. It's been best friended and wears its buddy badge with pride! :)

I have another 4\* Mewtwo that I got during a random trade with my husband while we were on vacation. It randomly turned lucky! I love that Mewtwo. I remember that trade and that vacation every time I scroll through and see that Mewtwo.

I caught two more 4\* Mewtwos during this last Go Fest event—one during the actual event and one during the make-up day. One has the fancy pants background; one doesn't. I was stoked about each of them!

Was I mad about getting more of them? No. Was I mad during Go Fest that more people were going to have perfect Mewtwos by the end of the day? No, I wasn't even thinking that way. I was cheering people on! When people would shout out that they got the shiny or the hundo after the raid, I was stoked for them!

No one made me or anyone else raid for Mewtwo during that event or any other. I did it because I like playing this game, and I hope you did it for the same reason. Not just to get something rare that you can have that no one else has. Because that seems like a sad way to play the game.

This is a digital game. Forced scarcity is part of it, but it’s not the only part that makes the game fun.

This is supposed to be a community game. Yes, it's competitive. But competitive doesn't have to be resentful and bitter. Someone else getting something good doesn’t make what you already have worth less.

Learn to be good with your decisions. You made the best decision you could with the information you had at the time. Now things are different, and it’s time to roll with it.

If you raided a bunch for Mewtwo during Go Fest, you probably have a ton of candy and mega energy! One free 4\* Mewtwo isn't the same as everything you got from doing all that raiding. You got XP, energy, candy, stardust, rare candies, and hopefully made fun memories with your friends, family, and strangers while out playing a game that you like.

For me, this 10th anniversary Mewtwo with the cool planet background is a fun reward for playing a game that I love with my family and friends from all over the world. It reminds me of when the game was originally just Pidgeys and Rattatas. And when people were running through parks screaming about Pikachu! It reminds me of the Jessie and James Rocket event! It reminds me of when my best Pokémon was Breloom and I loved that little mushroom/dino creature! It reminds me of the first Go Fest when everything crashed constantly. And when the game had to have downtime to do updates and you couldn’t play during those hours. I remember when all of the avatars had the same haircuts and bodies! I remember when there was no one cheering in the stands when you took on the gyms. I remember when the gyms were full of Blissey and hotly contested! I remember Go Fest in Seattle and Go Fest in NYC! It reminds me of raiding with my family and walking in the park with my friends on Community Days. I don’t have any regrets about the time I’ve spent playing the game, even when I didn’t catch what I wanted or when my husband got it instead!

I feel like people are missing the fun in the game sometimes. I hope this helps someone remember that this isn’t just a 4\* Mewtwo that everyone gets. This is a game that everyone can play. This is a community that everyone is welcome in. This is 10 years of people around the world being engaged in this weird, wonderful, imaginary world. And I am glad everyone gets something that will remind them of that.
