Hey everyone!

I’ve been working on to address a recurring issue in formats with Mega Evolutions: many Megas either feel redundant compared to their base forms (or other top-tier Megas) or lack the specific counterplay tools needed to stand out against dominant meta threats.

Instead of just giving raw stat boosts, I designed 4 custom abilities aimed at giving these specific Megas unique, high-value competitive niches:

# 1. Mega Scizor — Apex Technician

* **The Problem:** Modern competitive play is full of anti-priority tools (Psychic Terrain, Armor Tail, Queenly Majesty) that completely shut down priority-reliant physical sweepers.
* **The Solution:** *Apex Technician* preserves Technician's 1.5x boost on moves ≤ 60 BP while granting them +1 priority and letting them bypass priority blocks. This turns Bug Bite and Bullet Punch into reliable tools to check faster offensive threats (like Mega Delphox) even through terrain.

# 2. Mega Gallade — Vorpal Edge

* **The Problem:** Base Gallade running Life Orb often deals comparable or higher burst damage with Sharpness than Mega Gallade, making players question if Mega Gallade is worth the single Mega slot.
* **The Solution:** Vorpal Edge increases slicing move power by 40% and lets them pierce through defensive screens (Reflect, Light Screen, Aurora Veil). It retains the damage output without Life Orb recoil.

# 3. Mega Tyranitar — Tectonic Armor

* **The Problem:** Mega Tyranitar gives you a second Sandstorm activation upon Mega Evolving, which is valuable for weather control. However, its 4x Fighting weakness and common super-effective coverage hits mean it often gets forced out before generating substantial value.
* **The Solution:** *Tectonic Armor* provides a 50% damage reduction against the first super-effective move it takes while Sandstorm is active. This effect refreshes once per Sandstorm setup. It gives Mega TTar the survivability needed to set up Dragon Dance or punish offensive switch-ins, without completely removing its weaknesses.

# 4. Mega Froslass — Permafrost

* **The Problem:** Weather wars are often decided purely by who switches in last, and Ice types struggle to maintain field presence against dominant Sun or Rain setters.
* **The Solution:** *Permafrost* summons Snow Warning upon entry and **locks the weather into Snow** while Mega Froslass remains active on the field. This completely denies weather overrides from incoming switch-ins (like Pelipper or Charizard Y) and halts momentum reliant on abilities like Swift Swim or Chlorophyll.
