Thinking of running away from home
My father is an extremely conservative and emotionally/financially abusive man. My mother has suffered for almost 30 years and continues to do so, and I and my sister are on the same track. Silver lining is that my sister and I are destined to marry one day so we'll leave this house anyway. But there are absolutely no guarantees about what kind of home I'll be going in next. My next "sarbarah" could be just as much abusive. I have missed out on almost every joy you possibly could have in your teens and early 20s. I'm turning 27 soon. I'm not allowed to go to cafes or restaurants or the movies or my friend's homes or with my siblings for more than 3 hours and I'm not allowed to invite my friends over at home. I earn very less and I have to support myself and my younger siblings and my mother as much as I can, and it's hard to save money. There are always, always fights going on in this home (as is happening atm) and my father is mostly always a ticking time bomb and I'm just. Tired.
So I'm thinking of running away. I have an american passport so that thing's solved. I have family in the usa and a friend in dubai so I could go there. I am well educated Alhamdulillah and can get a good job enough to sustain me.
Thing is. Is it worth cutting ties with my family? My father could very well never speak to me again. I know you'd think "no parent can stay away from their kids for long" but i believe my father could. He is a cold, cold man. So there's a possibility that I could never hear from him again. My mother would grieve. My siblings left alone. And it would ruin my chances at having a normal life. I couldn't marry. And I want to marry. I want to fall in love.
But i also need to get the fuck away.
I know there would be people who'd say "try talking to your dad" but it's no use. I know him. I've seen my mother go through the same stuff. He likes control. He is not giving that up.
So, has any girl here ever run away? Was it worth it? Did you regret it? I need different perspectives.
