7th attempt and I finally passed today with **7 minors**!😭. What a journey it’s been, but I’m honestly just so relieved that the fight is finally over.
Only took **£2.5k+, 3 instructors, 3 test centres and 7 attempts**… easy. 😭😂

I posted here a few months ago after failing for the 5th time, and some of the advice and adjustments people suggested genuinely helped me, so I wanted to come back and share what worked for me.
1. Stick to one test centre
Don’t rush to book your next test at a completely different centre just because there’s an earlier appointment. The more you practise around the same area, the more familiar you become with the roads, signs, junctions and common routes. That familiarity really helped me.
2. Don’t be afraid to change your instructor
If you feel like your instructor isn’t helping you improve, or you feel like they’re just taking your money, it’s okay to find someone else.
I eventually changed instructors and told my new instructor everything about my previous lessons and test experiences. This helped them identify the areas I was struggling with much more quickly.
My first instructor would sometimes shout when I made mistakes, which made me feel rushed and more anxious. They also spent quite a lot of lesson time talking about unrelated things, which wasn’t helpful when I was trying to concentrate. Changing instructors made a huge difference for me.
3. Be kind to yourself
This one was probably the hardest.
I used to feel awful seeing other people pass at the test centre while I kept hearing the same “Unfortunately…” over and over again. I started comparing myself to everyone else and wondering what was wrong with me.
But eventually I realised that everyone learns differently. Some skills might take someone a few days to learn but take you months, while something that takes them months might come to you naturally. Everyone has their own journey.
I also started meditating regularly, sometimes in the mornings but especially before bed. It helped me manage my anxiety and stop being so hard on myself. This is the meditation I found particularly helpful:

It’s been a long time coming, but the feeling of finally passing after so many attempts is honestly incredible. I couldn’t stop smiling today.
To anyone who has failed multiple times: don’t give up. I know how horrible it feels to keep hearing that you’ve failed, but failing doesn’t mean you can’t do it. Keep learning and make changes where you need to
Good luck to everyone still on their journey!

Lucky number 7 🤞
