using the Action 6 for 3 weeks as a cycling newbie, honest thoughts + recs needed!
I’ve been using DJI’s other line of products for a year, after falling in love with cycling I decided to finally grab an action camera. Now I’ve had Action 6 for about three weeks, my experience as a first-time action cam user is actually pretty different from a lot of reviews online.
First a quick tip: if you get the action 6, try watch video tutorials instead of reading the manual, it makes learning so much easier!
My biggest takeaway is that the footage is definitely not blurry. I usually shoot in 4k, sometimes for daily life, but mostly while riding. As expected from an action cam it really shines during movement, I keep RockSteady turned on most of the time and the detail retention is surprisingly good.
I’m super happy with the videos I’m getting, but I’m still struggling with dialing in the right settings for that cinematic aesthetic. I’ve seen people post footage that looks straight out of a movie, and I’m just not there yet. I gotta keep playing around with the cinema settings.
What are your camera settings for cinematic cycling shots? Would love to learn some of your favorite presets!
