Model Y Standard vs Model 3 Premium
Test drove the Model Y Premium last week, fully expecting to hate it, but it actually ended up being my favourite out of everything I’ve driven recently — Polestar 4, IM6, Model 3/Y and Sealion 7. Currently driving a Polestar 2.
Now I’ve got myself into a bit of a dilemma. Based on the current Tesla leasing prices, I’ve basically narrowed it down to:
- Model Y Standard
- Model 3 Premium RWD
The best lease deals seem to be based around a 2-year term, and that’s where I’m struggling with the Model Y Premium. It feels difficult to justify putting £5k+ down on the Y Premium when I can get either the Standard Y or Premium Model 3 for around £1.5k down for a lower monthly price.
The problem is that I prefer the Model Y as a car — the driving position, practicality and overall feel just really clicked with me. But I prefer the interior of the Y Premium, so the easiest way to get that would be to switch to a Model 3.
So I’m basically stuck between:
- Buy the car I prefer (Y Standard)
vs
- Get the interior I prefer (3 Premium RWD)
I was also looking to move to a PCH this time, and guess they are keeping thier values well at the moment if Tesla want them back in 2 years, I presume to flog on the second hand market?
What would other people do in this wierd dilema I have found myself in, other than probably judge me hard!?
