Why are so many people here hyperfixated on weather?

In basically every post, someone will inevitably bring up the weather as a major pro/con of some city/metropolitan area.

And while weather certainly can make a difference, people act like it's the most major dealbreaker ever and they simply cannot live in a place that isn't literal paradise weather 24/7/365.

Like most people living in the US are working indoors at an office, in a store, etc. especially Redditors. You would think people here are constantly spending 10+ hours outdoors in the sun or rain everyday with how much commentary is given about weather here. Like nonstop hiking and camping everyday or something.

I'm sure many people live different lifestyles, but barring some kind of actual inclement weather, I live and operate perfectly fine regardless of the weather. When I walk, drive, or transit to work, a store, an event, etc., I engage with the outside weather for a few moments and move on with my day. Averaged out, I probably interface with the weather less than 5% of my time in a day.

If it's hot during the summer, I stay inside more and turn on the A/C. If it's cold outside, I wear more layers and turn up the heat.

It just seems crazy to me how there are so many people constantly commenting how "I could never live in XYZ city because of the weather", when pretty clearly millions of people do indeed live in that area already and live perfectly happy, normal lives.

For those people out there that are in this camp, I'd genuinely love to hear more about how and why the weather is such a critical aspect to your decision making around where you live, and if/how that outweighs the other livability aspects like urbanism, transit, jobs, diversity, etc.
