Another RealTruck Disappointment
This is mostly just a forewarning for anyone who didn't know how bad RealTruck is, the way I didn't know before I spent $2k on accessories. It's also a shout out to an Amazon brand that has better quality than the go rhino/truxedo stuff I bought.
I ordered a tonneau cover and running boards for my new frontier pro4x. Mostly because Lomax doesn't make long bed covers for the frontier. (We had Lomax on our Ranger and I highly recommend) and Tygger from Amazon doesn't make running boards in the shape we want.
The truxedo tonneau cost $400 more than the Lomax and the go rhino cost literally 9x more than the Tygger. At the time I thought no big deal. We got a good return on our lemon law Ranger and had money left over for these.
For the price, I expected better quality and better customer service. With Realtruck you get neither. We got most of what we ordered after 2weeks of purchase. But the running boards were missing the included brackets. I finally got them 2 months later and after Realtruck tried to close my ticket 7 times without receiving the part.
The box arrived in pieces. And the brackets were only wrapped in 1 layer plastic wrap. They were chipped and dented all over. After calling Realtruck again I decided it wasn't worth 2 more months as the brackets wouldn't be seen anyways.
The even bigger bummer is the quality of everything. The running boards metal stamping is extremely rough. The paint has already gotten scratches down to the metal. And it's been 2 weeks. Our Tygger brand was 2 years old and didn't have one mark on it.
The truxedo tonneau is alright, but the fit is nowhere near clean or finished the way the Lomax was. Overhang on the end of the bed. Rubber seals with overhang needing trimming. Easy scratched paint coating on the aluminum.
If I knew what I know now, I'd buy from a local shop or have spent a lot more time searching for something better.
So if you're looking for truck stuff. Don't buy from Realtruck. I won't be anymore.
