About visiting Japan after leaving abruptly...

Interested in visiting Japan after leaving abruptly

No snark or condescending comments please. Just looking for answers from anyone knowledgeable.

I left abruptly after living there for over eight years in February 2025. My sibling passed away and packed all my things and returned to the US to help my mother. I didn't submit my residence card or tell anyone I was leaving or pay my stuff for the rest of the year or anything like that. My landlord was chill and I just moved out cleaned up and left. I'd like to go back and grab some stuff that I have left and possibly tie up some loose ends.

I wanted to know if anything will happen at the airport when I try to go back? I'll be using my passport and not my residence card. Will I be stopped or anything like that? Not sure how all this works.
