Accor FlowTite Valves
My home has 11 Accor FlotTite valves from 2015 on PEX-B ... to my knowledge they are NOT leaking at the moment. That said everything I read here says I should really replace them post haste. What are your thoughts?
Q: Also, what are the best Quarter-Turn Angle-Stop valves?
Q: What are the best hoses? Do you just get any appropriate steel braided and call it good or are their quality differences?
I am a retired HVAC tech, so it is really NOT that big of a deal for me to replace them at least until I find out that the stub-out is too short.
My plan would be:
-
Use a copper tubing cutter to cleanly cut each valve and remove it piece by piece with minimal PEX damage NOT shortening the PEX
-
I want to then get a Quarter-Turn Angle-Stop that has a FNPT connector and thread in a PEB Barb to MNPT with some Teflon tape and pipe dope.
-
. Then I crimp them in. My reasoning is if the Angle-Stop valves go bad again, I could just unscrew the angle-stop provided I properly back-Wrench. (i.e. the PEX will never get shorter with future replacements).
Thoughts? I really don't want to end u in the future needing to cut drywall to get enough pipe slack is why I am thinking about doing PEX-B Barb to MNPT ... then an FNPT Angle-Stop.
