Two mail vendors means twice the breach risk
We’ve seen this quite a bit. Marketing hires a shop for postcards and campaigns. Ops finds a separate provider for statements and compliance notices.
Five years later you have double:
- Contracts
- Data feeds
- Proofing workflows
- Sets of drop dates
Often, you're paying for the same mistakes twice. Here are some other issues not being considered:
- You're doing everything twice. Every data update requires repeating uploads, QA cycles, and confirmations. Address hygiene (CASS/NCOA/dedupe) runs twice on the same customer file and if the two vendors don’t align, which one's right?
- Your customer data is split in half. Marketing knows which offers convert. Transactional knows payment behavior and account status. That data is never shared, so there is zero personalization informed by campaign response.
- You're maintaining two security postures, audit trails and chains of custody for regulated data.
IBM's 2025 Cost of a Data Breach Report puts the average healthcare data breach cost at $7.42 million, the highest of any industry tracked, well above the $4.44 million global average.
- Production isn’t optimized. Marketing spikes seasonally but statements run steady throughout the year. Under one roof, the streams smooth each other out.
Has any one here had these type of struggles running mailing campaigns?
