Heavy unpopular opinion maybe.

Coming out of FDFS , without social media opinions coloring my thoughts , I was not disappointed but knew this will not reach Vikram level of celebration.

Reason ?

1. The plot. It was too convoluted and around the interval point I couldn’t figure who was doing what and what their objective is.

2.The Shruthi Haasan emotional angle didnt work at all.

3. The electric chair loophole was too simplistic and childish to be a plot point. How Loki believed that a kingpin who has an entire harbor with an ocean and endless cargo in his control needed an electric chair to dispose of bodies is still undigestible for me. He could have made it a sci fi device saying it extracts some brain fluid or whatever which could tie in with the whole organ trading plot line. But whatever.

Still I liked it and rewatch parts of it.

1. Thalaivar . It was a pleasure to watch a movie where the whole movie didn’t revolve around his heroism ( at least in the first half). There was a dark and violent shade to the movie which Thalaivar hadnt explored before and it was fun to watch. Obviously Interval point and climax were peak but he was enjoyable to watch throughout the movie.

2. Dayal - enjoyed Shoubin Shahir’s performance.

3. Ani - Masterclass BGM.

If this movie had not been directed by Loki and was made by another director, the backlash wouldn’t have been this hard. Hype always kills.

I actually enjoyed Coolie and still rewatch parts of it.
