Does anyone have trouble getting into the metal community?

I love metal, it is honestly my 2nd favorite genre but I feel like most people in the community are just a poser police. They are so strict and they don't really allow anyone in there. I have gotten called poser many times just bc I didn't listen to an artist they liked, or when I told people I enjoy nu-metal im bashed so quickly?

Just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience.
