Few years ago I got hit by a car (it was pulling out of a side road) Driver said she did not see me. i was fine so that was okay. Also back then i used to ride alone so I wasnt worried.

Now I got a cargo bike and ride with my 5 year old on the back seat to school almost every day. So I am kinda really concerned about being visible. I have been adding different things to make sure drivers see me. Wanted to share the full list of what I have added so far. And that if its enough or if I should add something else.

Bright front light on high beam

i keep bike's built in front light on high beam (even during the day) I have noticed that steady bright works more than flashing in daylight because drivers think of it as a vehicle (not a bike toy) Also this is for oncoming cars at junctions (the exact type of situation that got me hit last time)

Rear light with brake + radar alerts

It stays on all the time while riding and gets noticeably brighter when I brake. Also mine works with the rear radar so if a car is coming from behind very quickly the light also gets brighter (kinda like a 2nd layer)

Helmet can be controlled by the bike

I pair my bike with lumos helmet over bluetooth. When i signal on the handlebar, arrows also light up on the back of my helmet. When i brake, the helmet brake light lights up too. My son wears a paired helmet as well so both helmets flash together. So cars behind us see brake and turn signals at head height (not only at rack height). Also i dont take a hand off the bar to hand signal which I think kinda matters with a kid on the back.

Thats all.

Do you guys think I visible enough for cars or is there something else i should add?
