A social media platform where no one can be banned, and instead makes use of an extensive tagging system

Exceptions (aka you will be banned for these):

  • spam (as in making tons of posts, not just making irrelevant ones)
  • illegal content

The way people are actually banned would be through getting assigned a "blacklist" tag. The interesting thing is that these tags will essentially all be user-created. The effect of this is that if you disagree about someone getting banned by a blacklist tag, you can just make your OWN blacklist tag and not include them in it. Searching could also employ complicated logic, like "hide all posts with this blacklist tag, but then unhide them if they have a blacklist exception tag".

Tags will also essentially serve as subreddits, as they will also be able to be assigned to posts. If someone wants to make a way to search for Minecraft-related posts, they'll just create a "Minecraft" tag. There would have to be an "alias" system to notify the user that a possible duplicate exists, but duplicate tags should still be allowed.

This is because each tag will have a "tag team" that assigns the tags to posts, NOT posters assigning the tags themselves. This stops spambots from assigning tons of unrelated tags to their posts to get attention, but since duplicate tags will be allowed, if you disagree with how a tag team is assigning their tag, just make a duplicate of it and make your OWN tag team.

Reddit as of right now has custom feeds, but you can't really assign other people to edit your custom feed. The key point is that you'll be able to create your own "subreddit" or whatever, and other people can make a subreddit that is just a combination or complicated filter of existing subreddits, which itself can be included in new subreddits. This lets people who don't care about drama going on in the moderation of a big subreddit re-aggregate all the splinter subreddits caused by people trying to make a "better" version of the subreddit.

And if it's too annoying to get people to tag other people's posts, then how subreddits currently function can be recreated by making some tags "public", meaning that anyone can use them, and just assign a "misused this tag" tag to account that are spamming unrelated stuff in the tag.

please comment if you're confused, i'm terrible at explaining my ideas haha
