What would you recommend a 19-year-old do to build a good career?
I’m 19 and trying to figure out what direction I want my career to take.
I’m interested in projects, development, entrepreneurship and working with people. I also enjoy structure, organization and making sure things are well planned.
At the moment, I’m a youth football (soccer) coach, starting a small digital/web-based business, and considering joining the military in my home country through a programme combining basic military training with cybersecurity education (12 months)
I enjoy building things, taking responsibility and developing and improving ideas into something tangible.
I’m not necessarily looking to become a stereotypical “entrepreneur” - I simply enjoy creating and working on projects.
For those further along in their careers:
-What would you focus on at 19?
-Are there any job roles, courses or certifications you’d recommend exploring?
-Is it better to specialize early or explore different areas?
-What skills or experiences gave you an advantage later?
-What do you wish you had started doing at 19?
-What can you recommend looking at my interests?
I’m not looking for one specific career path - I’m interested in what you would prioritize if you could go back to 19, and what you can recommend looking at my interests
Thanks! :D
