The new album is very good!
I've just finished listening to the album for the first time. I couldn't disagree more with the bad first reactions it's gotten here already. Personally I liked it way more than chapter 1, because I find it to be way more creative and less safe.
In my opinion, Exit Wound is the least interesting track on the album, but the rest of the album really has things going for it. It has a lot of catchy parts, it's very emotional, it's heavy where it needs to be, it has some callbacks to old sounds while still sounding fresh.
I think The Arsonist is a top-tier Manson song.
Unalive is such a good album opener.
None of the Suns sounds like it could have been in The High End of Low if that album had been good and if it kept its original thematic vision. I think people will either love or hate it, personally I love it.
Enantiomorph strongly reminds me of those early Manson heavy, gothic ballads that make you tear up.
Lucifer's teardrop is a bop.
I've always loved Front Towards Enemy but I think it somehow sounds even better in the context of the album.
Personally this is my favorite album from Marilyn Manson since Heaven Upside Down, which I love. My first impression is that this is not going to be a top 3 Manson album, but that it's still a strong and welcome album in an overall already strong discography.
I'm so excited to listen to it again!
