Starter Bike Help

I really want to get a gravel bike but my budget is very tight. I'm looking at entry level bikes right at the $1k mark. A buddy with a lot of experience and knowledge suggested a few potential starting points. Here's what I'm looking at:

Marin Nicasio

Primos Dame

State 4130 All Road

He's also offered to help me build a bike but I'm guessing that's going to be more decisions and ultimately I think I'll struggle to stick to my budget.

Any other bikes in that range I should look at? Any thoughts on the bikes listed?

Thanks!!
