a well known artist gave me his manager's number after a 30s min pitch. I want him to invest in my business, how to?

Career Advice

So this happened last week and I still haven't sent anything.

I was at a showcase, ended up talking to an artist most people here would recognize (DJ Snake). Pitched him for maybe 30s. He said he makes startup invests sometimes and gave me his manager's number. Said to reach out.

Background on me: solo founder in Singapore, sold a company a few years back, currently building a tech infra thing. We already have investors in, round is moving fine. So I don't need this. But I want it.

If I go in with a real ask, the manager becomes the guy who brought a fundraising pitch to his boss. Nobody wants that job. If I go too soft and just say "hey nice meeting you", I've burned the only warm moment I'll get.

I also assume the manager isn't going to forward some long thing. He'll repeat one sentence in a van somewhere or he'll say nothing. So whatever I write has to survive being retold badly by someone who doesn't care.

Part of me thinks the right move is to send nothing pitchy at all, keep building, and come back in two months when I have actual news. Part of me thinks that's just fear dressed up as strategy.

Has anyone actually turned a moment like this into something? Not asking for a template. Just curious what your first message looked like and whether it worked.
