Recently dismissed
Recently I was dismissed after 3 years. I work a gas station with no bathroom. During the last several months my breaks and my lunches have been "optional" if in store employees felt they had time. Nothing was changing and I went to HR. I was given guidance by my store manager. Technically leaving the gas station unattended is against the law but for bathroom breaks there is no option but to leave. Also when lunches or breaks are skipped it gets tedious. So I have not been penalized in three years for leaving early. I was told if I had a store associate that was willing to cover I could leave early. The the manager went on leave and I left early twice. This put me at 5.5 points and the temp manager took off .5 which was worthless
because they fired me a week later for 5 points.
My old store manager instructed me to no longer ask team leads but to ask managers in regards to missed breaks. The manager told me same thing but then forgot about me when the store manager was moved to another store. So my breaks and lunch were optional again. Mostly I would get "maybe" when I'd ask if a "certified"'person would cover. Only select employees are certified and can do gas station. So I have become weary and tired of this at this point. I left a few days early with coverage. Less than an hour and had never been penalized for it in three years. But got the two 1/2 points and that the reason they chose to lose me. I contacted open door and HR has documentation going back a few months on this problem prior to now. Feedback? It was a hard spot with rude customers and lousy breaks and lunch coverage. But I held it and did what was asked of me.
