Received money from abroad prior to completion - problem?

We are FTBs set to complete on 31st August. The house purchase is going to deplete all of our savings and because we are currently renting a fully furnished flat, we dont own any furniture. My husband’s parents offered to help out to pay for our furniture and sent us £5500 - we calculated that the furniture that we need to order early due to long lead times will cost that amount, but they only ended up being around £4900 as some of the items went on sale when we went to buy them. Also, his parents live abroad so the money came from abroad. Before they sent it, we talked to our mortgage advisor and he said it will not be a problem at all because we will not be using any of the money my husband’s parents will send toward the house purchases as our own salary savings are sufficient to cover all the fees. Anyway, I started to get worried about it and emailed my solicitor about the £5500 his parents sent from abroad and how we have already spent most of it on buying furniture and confirmed that none of that money will be used towards the house purchase as we simply have enough on our own. My solicitor has just emailed saying not to send her any funds because they now need to confirm that none of the money sent from abroad will be used toward the purchase. She didn’t say anything else and now Im worried that we might have some trouble. Im also so annoyed at our mortgage advisor for saying that it will not be a problem at all when now my solicitor is saying she needs to check it…
