I had to share this with people who understand, and I hope it can bring comfort to others
I couldn’t find another flair that would fit this post appropriately. I lost my soul cat almost 10 weeks ago. She was 13 and fell very ill, so I made the most difficult choice to euthanize her. She went peacefully.
My life hasn’t been the same. I’m a very different person. I cry everyday. I think about her constantly. I feel lost and empty and lonely. I love her so much and she is my everything despite her not being here physically anymore.
Yesterday was particularly rough. I cried out for her. I cried in the shower. I talked to her out loud. I told her, I just needed a sign. I said out loud last night, I know it’s silly, but if you could just send me a baby animal or a kitten to my door, I would just know. I cried myself to sleep.
Today, I went outside to check on my potted flowers on my porch. We live in a new construction neighborhood with no trees or even much grass. The only wildlife I see is geese. When I shut the door, something moved from the corner of the door (it was hiding behind my statue frog). It went into plain view right in front of my feet. It was a baby bunny 🥹😭 I fully believe it is the sign I asked for. I captured a few pictures to remember this forever.
Maybe I’m crazy, but I feel so many emotions from that. I went back inside and instantly sobbed, but I was also smiling. Our pets are still with us. I am learning how to carry her in a new way and it is very hard for me. All I want is her here. I want to know I’ll see her again, but I struggle so much. I am seeking out 1:1 grief counseling. For now, I take this as a small sign of comfort and presence. I don’t know if the signs will always exist, but the signs came when it mattered most.
