Looking for a Beta Reader for an ongoing NottPott series
Hi everyone! I am looking for a new Beta reader for my ongoing series, Cyrn Aur.
The story is a Hufflepuff Harry series re-write with a heavy focus on friendship and Harry’s relationships. It is eventual NottPott, slowburn mentor/parental Snape, lots of inter-house friendships, Wizarding World culture and politics, Paganism, Potter family lore, and no bashing. Harry leaves the Dursley’s in the first chapter of the first book and does not go back. He has a much wider friend group than in cannon, but I would categorize Hannah Abbott and Justin Finch-Fletchley as the other two-thirds of the "golden trio".
Book 2 is currently posting and I am hoping to find someone who can (relatively quickly) review the last 4 chapters (just over 18k words), so that I can finish posting the story on a schedule.
If that works out and you want to keep going, Book 3 of the series is fully written and ready to be reviewed. Book 3 is 40 chapters and around 190k words, but is under less of a time crunch as I haven't started posting on it. Ideally, I would take a short break in between posting the last chapter of Book 2 and the first of Book 3, but that is flexible. I am currently writing Book 4 and plan to keep going through end.
u/JaquessAF has been my Beta reader since the start of book 1 and has been absolutely incredible. Unfortunately, they need to take a step back, so I am looking for someone new to help me review. Ideally, someone with Betaing or editing experience or someone who also writes fics. I am also happy to Beta read in exchange if that is something you are interested in. I read across a wide variety of parings and troupes.
My current beta typically:
- Flags any sections that are confusing, the writing could use more descriptive detailing, things are awkwardly phrased, feel out of character, etc.
- Stylistic suggestions when needed for repetitive sentence structure, word choice, etc.
- Light grammar and Brit Picking check (if you catch something flag it, but this is not a primary concern)
- Let’s me know if they really love something as well.
If you are interested let me know in the comments or DM me. You can check out the published parts of the story and get a feel for my writing style here.
