BA Student Trying to Break Into Cybersecurity — How Realistic Is It?

Question

I’m currently pursuing a BA and don’t have a CS/IT degree. I want to move into cybersecurity and eventually specialize in Threat Intelligence, Reverse Engineering, and Security Engineering.
I have about 2 months to prepare before starting a regular job, and I’m willing to start with a low salary (even around ₹20k/month) if the role gives me genuine cybersecurity experience.
My main concerns:
How much does not having a CS degree hurt when applying for entry-level cybersecurity jobs?
Is SOC L1 / SOC internship the most realistic starting point for someone like me?
Can strong labs, projects, GitHub and practical skills compensate for the degree gap?
Would a path like SOC → Threat Intelligence → Malware Analysis/Reverse Engineering → Security Engineering make sense?
If I improve my English and gain 1–2 years of experience, how realistic is international remote work while living in India?
What would you recommend I focus on during these 2 months to maximize my chances of getting that first cybersecurity opportunity?
I’m looking for realistic advice, especially from people who have hired or worked with non-CS-degree candidates. I’d rather hear the difficult truth than generic motivation.
