I would love World Showcase to become more global
So I’m on my first Disney trip in a while, and I have had a blast doing world showcase, it’s one of my favorite things in the park. The one thing I want is more pavilions to represent more parts of the world. 5/11 pavilions are Western Europe. 3 are the big three North American countries. 2 are East Asian and then there’s only Morocco from anywhere else in the world.
I’ve read they have slots from anywhere from 4-6 new pavilions and I’m really hoping for one to be announced at d23 (it hasn’t happened in forever and I’m not really expecting it now though). There’s some obvious huge gaps in the world. 0 South America, 0 Sub Saharan Africa, 0 Middle East, 0 South and Southeast Asia, 0 Eastern Europe, and 0 Oceania. They obviously don’t have room to represent every single part of the world but they could definitely do better.
Brazil and India are the obvious ones that I really hope they do. Also Colombia or Peru as a 2nd South America rep would be fun. However Colombia is less likely with Encanto coming to AK.
I think there definitely does need to be a Sub Saharan African country. The region does have park representation at AK but it would be cool for them to focus on a specific country and its culture rather than the Equatorial Africa they once planned. I’d personally choose Ethiopia or Ghana.
Greece and Egypt would be great fits for their history and Greece would represent Eastern Europe and have a Hercules tie in.
There’s so many more countries that would be cool to have and represent more of the world like Turkey, Oman, Thailand, Australia, and many more. Obviously they won’t be building all of these, we’d be lucky if we even get Brazil and India at some point. And I know Disney has had some interest in building some of these but they won’t without interest and a sponsorship from the country/a company from the country, and that’s where a lot of plans fall through. But I still stand by that world showcase would be even better job representing the whole world.
